Photographer’s Note
This is the first time, in a very long time, that I've been across the Golden Gate Bridge when the sky was clear and blue. I couldn't decide if I like the photo from Marin Headlands or the one from Battery Point best( See WS ): however, this is the less common view. What do you think?
Marin Headlands are one of the most unique areas in the Golden Gate National Recreation Area. the Marin Headlands covers various types of histories from the Miwok Indians to the Military, including historic Fort Barry and Fort Cronkhite, the NIKE Missile site and the 150 year-old Point Bonita lighthouse. Other attractions include varied hiking trails, dog friendly Rodeo Beach, and astonishing views of the coast and San Francisco. The explosion of wildflowers in the spring and raptor migration in the fall fill the headlands with year round excitement.
The Marin Headlands is an example of open spaces still available in the Bay Area for visitors to enjoy.

Hello Pat -
This view is always something special for me - it captures the essences of "The City" in one single image. The iconic bridge, the actual Golden Gate, SF in BG, and the beauty of the Paris of North America. To me the water color looks a bit off, but then again how often do you get a clear day around SF. I love it!!! "...my city by the bay..."
Well done!
Thank you, thank you for sharing.
John
PS - I think you selected the main post perfectly.

Bonjour Pat,
Indeed here is a point of view which changes those that we usually let us see on this famous bridge of bay of San Francisco… I like much this panoramic format which includes the tree on the right. Strong contrasts and the light gives an atmosphere particular to the image, the reflection of the clouds on the sea are interesting. I like also your photograph in WS where one can appreciate the bridge a little more closely, although we know it well from now on TE !!! Thank you Pat for the interesting note.
With all my friendships and very good Sunday,
Jean-Charles

The Golden Gate Bridge has to be the icon of San Francisco and this view with the city in the background places it in situ. The choice of POV is good so you could frame the view with the tree. I suppose this is a less common view because it is only California residents who use it, while tourists content themselves with the usual viewpoints. I also like your WS which shows the bridge from a closer POV, but I agree with this as your first choice.

I don't know Pat. I like both shots. It's been done so many times but I never tire of this beautiful bridge. It is exceptionally clear and you captured it well in both images.

Olá Pat,
SF and the Bridge it's almost always a great, nice view. I prefer this one, with the trees at right. The color of the water is lovely.
This bridge always recalls me the one in Lisbon.
And this city is my tool to explain the spelling of my own first name. When foreign people have difficulty to understand and spell my name (that in Portuguese sounds something like "fran-seesh-koh"), I tell them: Do you that city San Francisco in California? My name is spelled the same way.
;-)
Be sure to wear flowers in your hair!

Hello Pat,
As a San Franciscan, I really welcome unusual views of the city -- and you've achieved one here. This is terrific. The wide angle and DOF are fantastic, catching Headlands Beach, Baker Beach and the Bay Bridge with great clarity. I love the eucalyptus frame on the right. Wonderful light, splendid cloud shadows on the water and pretty clouds over the East Bay hills. Thank you!
Best regards,
Mary

Hi Pat,
Very good viewpoint further back, giving a good idea of surrounding hills, size of the bridge and how the city is connected to the countryside. Good weather. I like shadows of clouds in the water.

Hello Pat,
This is a fine point of view, adding some information about the surroundings and putting GG in a perspective!
I notice the two towers almost frame the city skyline perfectly, sky and sea look their best even if this is a windy day...

This is my preferred because it shows the real context where the bridge is. And the colours are not so pushed too. Well done.

Hello Pat
This is a very unusual view of the Golden Gate bridge. Interesting contrast between the two banks of the river as it appears in this picture...the greenery in the FG & the throbbing metropolis on the other. Appreciate your WS shot, which is a more traditional view of this bridge.
Best Regards

Hi Pat,
A different point of view of the Golden Gate. The branches on the right makes a natural framing. The richness of the colours pleases me very much. The contrasts and sharpness are excellent too. I like the shadow of the cloud on this marvellous blue water. Wow!
Best regards

Hi Pat,
a wonderful sight from this high POV, which offers us a great depth of image and a good sensation of freedom, like a bird.
The geometry of the Golden Gate and its red color they are outlined on a magnificent landscape, with SF's city in background, and a few beautiful colors on the sea and on the sky.
The clouds that project its shades on the water are perfect.
A beautiful composition, my friend.

Hi Pat,
This one looks like a fine painting. Love the deep blue sky and dramatic clouds that do double time reflecting in the beautiful bay.
The iconic bridge links the green shores that contrast so brilliantly with sea and sky.

Hi, Pat,
I suppose it is the polarizer that makes the colors jump out of the frame here. It's stunning, but for my taste a bit much.
You've picked a wonderful vantage point from which to capture the bridge and the clarity of the city, the Oakland-Bay bridge, and even my home hills in the far distance is quite remarkable in an entirely positive way.
I think I probably would have left out of this image the framing vegetation (eucalyptus?) on the right. I really want to see the end of the bridge behind it. And the clouds on the right provide a nice complement to the Marin Headlands on the left, even without the framing vegetation.
All in all, a terrific shot!
Kind regards,
- William
ps: I like (and also believe in) the sentiment in your note that the more one knows, the more one should realize how much we don't know!
