I took this picture at 8:43pm in Santa Cruz Island facing west side. I believe this is the planet Venus. Correct me if I am wrong.
There is no pollution in the island or near the island. The clear sky in the island is a idea place to watch stars. I took this picture at a lower position trying to capture both twilight colors, the outline of the island, and the star. It was very windy at the time I took this picture. The small blurry shadows close to the ground are shaking grass in the wind.

It seems that every evening when i sit at the computer your photo is always one of the three just posted.
Simple elegant and makes me want to go camping. The colors are so amazing becuase they are so real. I like the blurred grasses it brings more mystique and ambience to your photo.

Excellent shot. The different shades of blue and black with the trace of orange on the right is superbly composed with a solitary white speck on the sky.

The aerial perspective of just 3 tones is superb. The moon is a good addition. Well done!

It's correct, is the the planet Venus. I have also captured this planet in my previous post. Simple capture with a fine result. Nice capture of the horizon and also fine after sunset colors.
Well seen and composed!
have a nice weekend.

we can see here this planet maybe better as we can see it with the naked eye, at least at some parts of the world...

I'm pretty sure this is Venus. It's the brightest planet in the night sky and brighter than any stars. As its orbit is inside the Earth's, it means that Venus is always seen not far from the rising or setting sun.
Anyway, enough of astronomy. It like this picture for its minimalism. Venus is perfectly placed, the horizon has an interesting line and the red glow is just enough to add some colour.

good colors and moon (?)

Hi Wes. A very nice shot with Venus making an appearance. Did you get the chance to get the full night sky? The shot has simpicity and beauty. I like the realistic colors too. Nicely done Wes!

An intersting picture with outstanding colours. When I saw your picture I thought that you were on Venus and the small star in the sky is earth :D).
Beautiful compostion with wonderful lighting.

Even I am pretty sure that it is Venus. I know that in India at around 32 degree latitude, it used to be visible in the evening and morning sky, thats the reason it is also called the evening star or morning star (somebody correct me if I am wrong)
I cannot say for sure about Santa Cruz though.
what is the steam like thing rising from the hill/plateau thing ... are those the bushes ?
very nicely composed shot ... good use of slow shutter speed ... cheers ... sarju
