Winter at the beach Photo

Photographer’s Note

Just after sunset on the Pacific Ocean, looking out toward Monterey Bay and a buliding from yesteryear called the Cocoanut Grove. This building, leading up to the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk Amusement Park, is a throwback to older days.

The beach and boardwalk is kind of like a West Coast equivalent of Coney Island.

Hola Jose,

I think you have a nice image here. The yellow building on the left seem very attractive with its bright colour and architectural design. I think California has very good examples of Spanish architecture. The image is interesting because of several elements. The framing with the net post on the right, the strip of warm colours just above the horizong line and the good low light to enhance the colours of the background. This place is nice. Thanks Jose.

This location looks very nice, indeed.
Excellent framing, with the shore fading away in the haze, and that building to the left + white pole in right foreground to provide good depth of field and overall proportions. Very well composed.
Love those pink and yellow tones in the lower sky.

I like Monterey Bay area, I try to go up there once a year. Very nice beaches and seascape and nature for photographing opportunity. You did well here, wonderful rich tone and colors of the sunset, very pastel like softness to it. I like the barely visible hillside on the horizon. Try to be mindful of placing the horizon too much in the center.
