Hello all, a chapmaker named Dave Thornbury entertained the festival goers with his rope. The 21st Cowboy Festival was created "more than two decades ago, City leaders were inspired by the National Cowboy Poetry Gathering in Elko, Nevada, and decided to create a unique celebration of Santa Clarita’s Western history – from art and music to film and television. In 1994, the Santa Clarita Cowboy Festival made its debut, honoring the authentic Old West through music, poetry, cowboy gear, food and storytelling in a setting that was unique to the area…and the rest is history!"(http://cowboyfestival.org/performers/dave-thornbury/)
"Chapmaker Dave Thornbury grew up trick riding and roping on Midwestern fair and rodeo circuits. Dave moved to California in the mid 70’s and since that time has worked at Calabasas Saddlery as well as performing at Calabasas Ranch and other events around the country."

Good stop action capture of the costumed chapped cowboy twirling his lariat. I would enjoy attending the next festival.
Thanks for sharing,
PS: You may share any of my photos to your Eastern Sierra Nevada theme.

Great timing shot! Well seen!
Thanks for this informative note, good report from the Festival. And this photo reminds me my trip to Arizona. Jason and me have visited the Goldfields Territory.
Best wishes from sunny Ural,

I appreciate this picture because the timing is perfect, we can see the cowboy face and the white mlasso, the dark background is a bonus to enhance the colors of his shirt.

I always wanted to visit Elko especially when the steam engine train is running, maybe one of these days. I like the lighting and good use of the dark background, it brings Dave and the lasso out. Sharp details and wonderful colors. Well done, tfs.
