Madame Rosinka Photo

Photographer’s Note

This is from Stearns Wharf in Santa Barbara. Here you can visit Madame Rosinka and get a palm reading.

I Googled for ”madame rosinka palm reader” and got 201 hits. Among them were this reference. There are apparently many ”Madame Rosinkas” in this area and a great market for palm reading. I get the impression that this is some kind of franchise operation, and you could start a ”Madame Rosinka” as an alternative to making hamburgers or something like that. It is probably easier to do palm reading than to fry a hamburger. Just get the manual!

However, we were not tempted to visit this lady, even with such a plausible namn.

Hello Gunnar,
an interesting and exceptionally bright photo! the combination of blue and red, with an addition of white, makes it a very cheerful and sunny picture :)
Interesting note and a curious reference. Yes, it seems, palm reading and being a clairvoyant is a much easier thing to do than cooking :)

Hello Gunnar,
She seems to occupy rather an interesting building whatever her antecedents. The rich red paintwork makes a very good contras with the dark blue sky. Good perspective complemented by fine quality and good sharpness.

The shape is wrong but the colours are almost typical Swedish. In Santa Barbara of all places. Very fine light and bright colours and an amusing note.

Hi Gunnar, Nice building in strong colour. I am disappointed you made such a research about Madame Rosinka and then not visited her. Wouldn't you like to know his future or past from the palm? This long bench suggests that there are many clients waiting in the sun. regards

I would call this a very entertaining composition! Now I know what I will do when I am retired.
The place looks almost Scandinavian with that red house under the typical blue sky which is always a pleasure for the eyes. TFS!

I was just here Sunday, coming back from San Francisco along the coast, I stopped here for dinner and walked on the pier, It was dark, so I didn't get to see it in the daylight.
