Photographer’s Note

These ladies are standing here exactly on the Californian coastline.

Straight east they have the huge North American continent for about 4000 kilometers, to the North Atlantic Ocean.

Straight west they have the even huger North Pacific Ocean with more than 8000 kilometers to Japan.

If you look at the map view here and click many times on the "minus" sign, you will eventually see the full picture.

But this is just the small picture, some ladies standing precisely where the Pacific meets the American continent. Just about 10 to 15 metres of coastline and nothing more than about 10 metres in each direction.

how very curious!
I can compare it to another curious phenomenon which I saw a few times when it rained: one side of the road is wet, the other side of the road remained absolutely dry :)

I like this little wave in the shape of a rounded triangle which touches the lady's feet.
Fresh, rich, natural colours - very beautiful!

A great mood to this interesting and well conceived composition. The presence of the two ladies and their reflections adds oh so much. The slightly rippling waters make for a calm and peaceful feeling. I like it very much.

A straightforward composition where the tracks in the sand complement the waterline and the small waves nicely. The two women are well placed off centre.
