Photographer’s Note
I hadn't thought about iron oxide as a thing of beauty until I learned about the theme started by Yitzhak Avigur filled with images of rust. I decided to visit an area of San Rafael known for auto repair shops to search out rust. When I stood in front of a dilapidated building taking the photo I've posted today, a man walked out of an open garage door and peered at me in amazement. When I told him I was taking a picture of the rusted wall for a friend he announced the building was about to be reconstructed and my friend could buy all the rusted metal he wanted. His friend appeared and suggested I only wanted a photo of rust. I agreed and continued shooting. Of course, if Yitzhak wants some rusted, corrugated steel, I know where he can get some cheap... ;-)
I'm playing with this image and rotated it forty-five degree clockwise for effect. The photo was shot late in the afternoon.

Excellent, Curtis, thanks for getting this beautiful piecec of rust for me. They have probably thought that you and your'e friend (=me) art totally nuts.
But this is a great composition of textures, colors and diagoanal lines, together with excellent light and shadows.
From my experience, good rusty shots are best with direct sunlight, and you caught excellnt light here.
Beautiful, Curtis, my compliments. TEll them I'll buy it.

I'm not surprised to see Yitzhak liked this one ;-) A very good textural study, that even in a frame as small as this one shows an amazing variety of different stages of corrosion. The light and contrast make the surface stand out very crisply. Good work, Curtis, and a fine "the making of ..." story to go with it ;-)

I like the abstract and diagonal composition. The cracking paint is well highlighted by the low level light. Well done and good framing.

Excelent detail. Well composed. I like the gradual change of tones from the left top corner to the right bottom one. The choice of the frame is judicious. Very well done.
