Photographer’s Note
This photo was taken at the edge of San Pablo Bay, the northernmost portion of what is generally called San Francisco Bay. As you can see, it was a pretty stunning day with scattered clouds beneath a brilliant sky. This photo demonstrates one of the fine attributes of a full frame camera, which yields exceptional depth of field. Here I use a wide-angle lens I'd bought to give respectable width on the Canon 20D with its 1.6X cropping factor. I'd thought the lens would be too wide for a full frame camera like the Canon 5D, but I've been delighted by the images produced, even landscape shots like this.
In the distance you can make out the elevated span of the Richmond San Rafael bridge I so love to photograph. Here, of course, it is the dramatic sky that takes center stage. Hope you enjoy the result of my hike along the Bay.

I have been surprised to see that the lens you use was the 17-40 as I was thinking of a wider lens.
5D is a dream for me, maybe in some years.
You have a realy nice picture.
Regards.
Yves
