Photographer’s Note
I was in downtown San Rafael, camera in hand, with eyes open for photographic possibilities when I noticed this young man impressing his woman friend with his agility in keeping the small bag in the air. I imagine this pastime is shared by kids in countries around the world, especially those fixated on soccer. It is a relatively new phenomena in this country, even as the sport of soccer has grown in favor.
From the posture of the woman I sense she would be willing to join in if given the chance. But such is the way of the world. Boys/men are eternally strutting their stuff for their women, fully expecting women to wait to show their appreciation. I imagine the feminists in the crowd will object to this characterization. Personally, I'm a fan of women asserting themselves and taking their rightful position in society. Yet old patterns of behavior seem very hard to change.
There is a bus parked behind them, for anyone who is curious about the background. (This was shot at 200mm.)

öh, for once, stop playing that stupid game of yours!! I'va had it with this!' could be something she thinks, too. ;-). I guess you're right, she wants to play too, but he doesn't look like he will let her.
I like the concentration and the eagerness on his face, not willing to stop, and loose sight on the ball. The light on the ball is nice, like a crescent moon.
I don't think I will object to what you write, as I think what you write is basically still true ;-), besides, I don't have the time for a discussion right now.

Hello Curtis. I enjoy looking at your beautiful Bay vistas, but I also like it when you take a closer look at the Bay's inhabitants. You often come up with pictures full of spirit, and that show a great tenderness for the people, even when you try to point out a funny side of their behaviour. I like that. The moment is perfectly caught and the woman's attitude is just what you say in your note (with which I don't disagree that much! :^). I like the bus in the background.

Ciao Curtis
I see what you mean, here you are at the long end of your lens, fast shutter and your shot is sharp.
The subjects are great, I like the concentration on the Guys face, and the light is superb.
I think this game is called Hacky-Sack.

It's a wonderful shot you got here Curtis, filled with movement and tension, his eyes and body are fully onto the ball while she looks like she want to play too but holds herself back. And those lines of movement and tension are well placed in the frame with a nice background that both sets a mood and is graphically clean and distinctive without being obtrusive.
