Its no secret that i'm a big fan of City Hall in San Francisco, and here is another photo i want to share with you.
As you walk into the main lobby, you'll be greeted by this staircase, and along with the designs on the marble floor and gold colors, its hard not to take a few photos.
This was one of the rare cases i didn't have my tripod with me, and as you can see i had to use a shutter speed of 1/6 handheld, so it may not be pin-sharp but i'm sure you get the idea.
Thanks for looking

Good eye for artful shots. Love the colors and lighting and I think the detail is great. I love going to SF for urban hikes and even have lived there in the late 60's (North Beach). However I have never been here before, but now, I have too. Great POV. TFS

I recognize this spot from your previous side view shot. It's a gorgeous staircase and floor. I like the symmetry with this POV. The stairs seem to spill out, as though they were made of a liquid that is slowing oozing sideways and forward. It doesn't look like a very busy spot, which is good for taking lots of photos! :-)
BTW, thanks for your critique on my most recent photo. You really do need to come back and hit all the NYC spots you missed! :-)

Cet escalier est vraiment splendide!
C'est vrai qu'il semble couler et se répandre sur le plancher. Les modifs au sol sont également très artistiques. J'adore les photos de planchers et de plafonds qui ont du style, et celle-ci est vraiment très réussie.
Bonne semaine Craig

it seems you are able to find a pattern in everything. I remember well the other shot from the hall.
I like very much the perfect symmetry.
Great POV from above. So simple yet very very impressive,
jjcordier (79289) 2012-03-21 0:36
Les différents cercles, du bas de l'escalier et du carrelage, créent un effet particulier, un peu hypnotique. Bien vu....si j'ose dire!

Perfect symmetry of this elegant "path", the play of tiles is very attractiv. Well seen my friend!

Good Morning Craig,
I find this photograph incredibly attractive. I wanted to use the adjective 'delicious' and then realised that it was because it reminded me of a marbled cake.
You have achieved excellent symmetry, sharpness and a very preasing highlight right down the centre.
Have a lovely day,
sevy (15367) 2012-03-21 1:21
Nice point of view and play with symetry to put in evidence the work done on the pavements with shapes and colors.

The last time I was there, we were invited to sing for some American Celebration thus the whole lobby was all with tables, chairs, the staircase was with some cords and sound system and lightings. Lucky you! You were able to capture it without distractions. I really love the POV here, the clear and clean staircase with a hint of golden touch. Excellent exposition as usual, and the composition as always, is stunning! Great work!
all the best,

Great simmetry in the composition: the floor and the stairs are a fantastic handworks.
gildasjan (42906) 2012-03-22 6:44
Un bon point de vue et un gros plan serré nous fait découvrir le bon rendu de ces marches.Un cadrage soigné,net et bien exposé.
dkmurphys (54489) 2012-03-22 8:01
Those stairs along with the floor are creating an interesting visual effect. Well captured, nice shot.
Have a lovely day.

Excellent photo of an architecture detail, nice symmetry and great graphical effect
bertolucci (13362) 2012-03-22 14:42
The municipality choose a respectful and welcoming way to greet its citizens. And perhaps impress them too :-) Your capture is a fab geometric play - and the symmetric approach was the way to go here. Óh, and I lov' those natural textures.
Re: Later on I'll post some more pics of 'De Rotterdam'.

I always really appreciate your very graphic look about things around us. This is a great picture with very nice curves, excellent exposure, great tones and perfect symetry.
Great work Craig!
Have a nice WE

How's things? I'm back! And I've missed you and all the other TEérs. We had a great time with Paolo and Santo here and miss them alot. The mischief those 2 guys got up to is unreal!
Anyway, to your amazing photo. It looks like hot caramel poured straight out of the pot. I love it, the warm tones, the graphism and most of all, how you managed it hand-held is admirable. Congratulations, it's a kick-a*s photo.
BTW - This is a dumb question but does City Hall mean Town Hall, where the local government sits?
SWEETFREEDOM (24118) 2012-03-24 0:22
beautiful staircase, i like also the designs of the marble floor.
good light and colors.
josepmarin (58087) 2012-03-26 5:25
this one is an excellent close-up, with which you have caught this staircase and the wonderful drawings on the marble floor, which geometry gives us a magnificent graphical effect.
In spite of the lack of your tripod, and the 1/6sec., the image is very sharp, the exposure is good, and the composition has a high quality.
A beautiful work, my friend.
abmdsudi (48812) 2012-03-26 22:49
I like the pattern and geometry of this shot with strong lines, curevs and symmetry plus great lighting and colour, this makes an excellent abstract as well despite the slow shutter, it's sharp enough to draw attentions, a striking image no doubt. For me, the foreground does alot blending so effectively. Also worth to note that the circular stairs case appears as if it just floats above the floor and what an illusion! Whatever you did it is a pleasing looking shot and has real class. Nicely done
kiks (11785) 2012-04-19 10:20
Fantastic stairs and your framing allow us to see the beautiful architecturwork and details. I love the reflectinglight at the front os the stairs creating a soft effect.
