Photographer's Note
Back to California, back to San Francisco.
You may remember a photo i uploaded with a similar presentation, but with a Piano.
This is a photo of the Carpet Floor in the Hyatt Regency Hotel in San Fran. I'm shooting this from 10 floors up, pointing the camera almost straight vertically downward to the floor.
The designs, forms, shapes made for an excellent photo shoot. The only problem were the dark dark lighting conditions, and every shot had to be handheld - the tripod wouldn't hang over the ledge in a vertical position, so it was hard to get a decent shot at such a slow shutter speed and without too much noise.
I hope you like the look of it.
Enjoy your weekend everyone!
Thanks for looking.

Wow, thats a striking pattern. Well worth the difficulties you had getting into position for the shot. The diagonal runs perfectly from top to bottom corner. Great sharpness.

Hi craig
I remember the similar one, where without reading your note I commented that the piano should have been a bit less close to the bottom edge !
I wont do the same mistake twice ! Anyway there's no piano in this one, LOL !
A nice graphic image with excellent definition
Have a nice WE
Best regards

Hello Craig,
Very graphical and interesting image.
I like the composition of circles, and the strong diagonal that crosses them.
Your informative note helps to understand the image and the way in which you took it.
The B/W works very well.

Hi Craig,
una foto molto diversa da quelle che siamo abituati a vedere nella tua galleria, ma senza alcun dubbio, molro bella e ben eseguita.
Eccezionale l'effetto grafico ottenuto, ottima la linea diagonale a spezzare l'equilibrio.
Well done my dear friend and TFS!

Now I am playing since a few minutes with it; just scroll the mouse up and down, all the pattern starts to vibrate ! I hope I won't need to visit my optician tomorrow :-))

Hi Craig
mesmerising shot this and one that I really like but for me optically challenging. These sort of shot can trigger a migraine for me. Technically perfect and a powerful visual expression. Blink! Blink! Well done.
Enjoy your weekend - Brian.

Bonjour Craig,
ce qu'un oeil normal peut voir tous les jours, l'oeil du photographe peut le présenter de manière toute autre, bien plus graphique et esthétique.
Preuve ici avec une réalisation très bien pensée.

Gidday Craig
Hehe I thought you were taking this shot of the carpet whilst passed out at the bar, but I see from your note you were actually well above the carpet and not passed out. What a great piece of graphism, so well-seen and beautifully executed. I would've missed something like this for sure. I love the simplicity and impressive symmetry.
Enjoy your Sunday,

Hello Craig,
I have been looking at this photo for a while, and here's what I think...it is technically perfect, and the execution and patterns are amazing. The high POV allowed you to capture perfect symmetry, too. In my gut, though, I feel like something is missing. What I mean is that I feel the strong desire to see a person, especially walking on the diagonal line! I almost expect a man to walk into the frame from the lower right-hand corner. Someone in a tux would be perfect. ;-) O.k....enough babbling...

Hello Craig,
Full marks for not only seeing this opportunity but managing to take it well in such difficult conditions. A strong diagonal through the composition and a great b/w oportunity. It is interesting that there is absolutely no sense of scale as the place seems deserted so that without your note I would not know what I was looking at.
Full marks for good technique of an unusual subject.
Kind Regards, Ann
