The panda (Ailuropoda melanoleuca, lit. "black and white cat-foot"), also known as the giant panda to distinguish it from the unrelated red panda, is a bear native to south central China. It is easily recognized by the large, distinctive black patches around its eyes, over the ears, and across its round body. Though it belongs to the order Carnivora, the panda's diet is over 99% bamboo. Pandas in the wild will occasionally eat other grasses, wild tubers, or even meat in the form of birds, rodents or carrion. (From Wikipedia)

Interesting Panda portrait with the bamboo bush in front, and the bear nibbling his meal.
One of the major attractions at the San Diego Zoo.
My long haired calico cat must have some Panda blood, because she enjoys eating bamboo leaves from the garden.
Thanks for sharing,

When I was at Washing DC for a conference I had the chance to visit the zoo and see 2 Pandas. They were rolling out and eating Bamboo. Felt very lucky to see them.

Great capture of this wonderful animal. Perfect DOF, with the panda _and_ the leaves in focus but the BG properly blurred. Not straightforward, at f/4.8. Also, to take this pic at 116mm you must have been quite close too! :)
