San Diego Bay is a natural harbor and deepwater port located in San Diego County, California near the US-Mexico border. The bay, which is 19 km long and 1.6 to 4.8 km)wide, is the third largest of the three large, protected natural bays on California's entire 1,350 km long coastline after San Francisco Bay and Humboldt Bay. The highly urbanized land adjacent to the bay includes the city of San Diego (eighth largest city in the United States) and four other cities, including National City, Chula Vista, Imperial Beach and Coronado
Considered to be one of the best natural harbors on the west coast of North America, it was colonized by Spain beginning in 1769. Later it served as base headquarters of major ships of the United States Navy in the Pacific until just before the United States entered World War II, when the newly organized United States Pacific Fleet primary base was transferred to Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. However, San Diego Bay remains as a home port of major assets, including several aircraft carriers, of the United States Pacific Fleet, and as a result of base closures beginning in the 1980s, facilities in San Diego Bay are the only remaining major naval base facilities still in operation in the entire State of California.
The bay is spanned by the San Diego – Coronado Bridge, built in 1969. The bridge curves and rises to a height of 200 feet above the water so that Navy ships can pass under it. (However, the vertical clearance is insufficient for Nimitz-class aircraft carriers, which is why these are docked north of the bridge.) The bridge was originally a toll bridge; however, toll collection was discontinued in 2002, when the bridge's construction loans were paid in full.
I took this picture from the 17th floor of a scyscraper hotel at the marina.

Ciao Eleni,
ormai mi sono imparato che tu posti le tue foto verso quest'ora e cerco di fare in modo di lasciare una critica da poterti dedicare.
Ora che hai deciso di traghettare con le foto in California non posso che complimentarmi per questa foto panoramica che rende bene il paesaggio tipico di questa regione.
Non mi resta che aspettare domani per vedere se e come il tuo viaggio fotografico prosegue attraverso la California.

Hi Eleni,
A very impressive and beautiful view. The background bridge provides a good separation line in the picture and all the boats add a nice pattern. I tried to find this position on the Google map, but I am not really sure what your position was here, is this from the Manchester Grand Hyatt?

The landscape is very beautiful with wonderful panoramic views, pleasant Outlook, cheesy colors, change the sharpness is good
Very good, and has a gun broling successful performance, but I'have Beretta and used to racing from Beretta, hunting rifle, I ixterima (ten cartridge).

Hi Eleni, Mea culpa, I haven't read your intro till the end. I saw Greece in the beginning :).
What a big marina, with so many boats. Wonderful view from a high POV. The bridge is very impressive - so high and long.

Can't see all the boats anchored, Eleni, but a bold figure I recon there are some 120/130 vessels.
Beautiful cityscape from the hight of the 17th floor, excelent view as far as the bridge framing the sceney, clear and well inn contrast, and a marvelous reflection on the next building.
The artificial peninsula has green lawn and it's trees are a great strolling location around.
Impressive.

San Diego a city that we see very few pictures, but these is very nice.
The marina with a lot boats together the bridges in background makes this image lovely.
Excellent captured, lovely panoramic composed.

what a lovely panorama! The boats lined up in all these neat rows remind me of some well trained soldiers. Good use of the bridge as a framing and perfect for this scene high POV. Great colors and light.

μια πολύ χορταστική και απολαυστική θέα με πολλά ενδιαφέροντα στοιχεία να τραβούν την προσοχή του θεατή. Το θαυμάσιο βάθος και η ευκρίνεια της εικόνας κάνουν την παρατήρηση των λεπτομερειών άνετη και ευχάριστη. Αν και το φως δεν ευνοούσε την εξαιρετική οπτική γωνία εκείνη τη στιγμή, κατάφερες να εξισορροπήσεις τα χρώματα και τις αντιθέσεις με επιδεξιότητα. Συγχαρητήρια και ευχαριστώ!
