Photographer’s Note
After driving by this scene dozens of times I finally got the chance to shoot it. The vantage point was along the frontage road on the west side of Calif. Route 30 not too far north of the Interstate 10 interchange and just south of the town of Highland.

Nice shot. The sun gets big since you had a high focal length. The sky looks a painiting.
Thanks for sharing

Great shot! I like the way you used the long lens to really get the sun huge in this, and the silhoette with the trees works great too. Your timing was great as well, because the sun was just going down below the horizon. Well done!

Looks like a postcard or an opening shot to a hollywood movie. Very nice.

Hi Gregory,
Wow, you drive in settings like this. Lucky you ;-).
I like it! Though I have to say it is quite soft for my liking. Would also have cropped the right off it (tower behind the palm tree) and I feel that the frame distracts from the subject. I took the liberty to make a workshop. Hope you like it!
The whole POV of your picture is well choosen!
Greetings, Dennis

My first reaction when I saw this was to say aloud "Awwwwwwe". It's really captivating.
The colours and simitry are very alluring.
Nice crisp details in the silhouette.
I'm wondering if you considered cropping out the distracting posts on the right? Maybe taking away a bit at the bottom too?
Don't get me wrong though, I love it.
Here's a quick workshop to show you what I mean.
Friendly regards,
Kelley

Hi Gregory.
A great shot this one. There is a phrase in my country that saids: who follows it obtains it. And you have got a very good sunset here. Composition is really good with all the trees making a line. Colors are very nice and all the picture is wonderful. Congratulations and regards from Spain.

Lovely sunset!! I'd crop the towers on the right too, as Dennis suggested. Anyhow, the POV and colours are simply beautiful, great shot!

Hello Gregory,
When i saw the thumbnail i knew there was a long lens, but seeing this picture in large and the 400 2.8 i was impressed.
That lens is famous, but also very heavy, not easy to walk around with.
Like your color toning and the way you build up this composition with the palmtrees in front....excellent.
Have a nice weekend, Henk

Gregory, that lens 400mm really worked well here to work out hte huge sun in the bg against the regular placed palm trees in the fg. Obviously the powerlines are a little bit displaced but it doesn't interfere to much. The orange colors gives an interesting mood.

Hi Gregory
the thing i like about this shot is it's simplicity, a silhouetted row of palm trees and a huge sun behind, and it works so well. a beautiful sunset picture with beautiful colours.
