Photographer’s Note

I took this for my geology class once upon a time; it's an example of wind erosion, but it looked so impressive I decided to share. Hopefully the photo shows the great diversity of the Southern California environment. This is out toward the desert in the San Bernardino mountains but similar terrain is still only about a two-hour drive from the ocean. Pretty much everything is accessible in a single day: beach, mountains, desert and the large Colorado River on the Arizona/California border just a bit further.
