Photographer’s Note

This was taken on a field trip for a geology class I once took. Sorry for the quality on this one; scanned pic. I wish I remembered the significance of the rocks in the background, but it's a really pretty photo anyway and shows the great diversity of the Southern California environment. This is out toward the desert in the San Bernardino mountains but similar terrain is still only about a two-hour drive from the ocean. Pretty much everything is accessible in a single day: beach, mountains, desert and the large Colorado River on the Arizona/California border just a bit further.
