Photographer’s Note
I've been enjoying the photos posted from Rotterdam and thought I'd share a bit about my home town. I promised myself this spring that I would walk an hour each day and on this lovely afternoon I took my camera with me. I've created a montage of images I captured during my walk. The first three are of homes near the downtown business district that I've photographed so many times. There are many lovely homes in this rather upscale community. The one in the upper right hand corner has been a favorite for many years. Interestingly, the one on the lower left hand corner is a relatively new construction. I remember when the gorgeous old home that occupied that parcel of land went on sale. You can imagine my surprise when the new owners tore down the original home to build this even larger home. Such is the pattern being played out in this community where property values have gone up so quickly. When older homes go on the market they are often torn down so larger homes can be built. I don't imagine one sees that too often in Europe.
The image on the lower right is the Laughing Buddha. I walk past him on occasion and finally have a photo.
I'm testing this Canon lens for walking around with the full-frame Canon 5D. It is an early model and quite modest in price, but has an excellent reputation. I've been quite impressed thus far. Next week I'll test another lens with a wider range. The play never ends!

Hi Curtis, you should have organized a meeting there. The first thing I noticed, that you have such gorgeous weather, while Isabel and I are actually hiding from the cold in this internet cafe. Lovely upload in one frame from your own environment. The one on the bottom left could have been taken in the Netherlands as well.
No, houses being torn down to create bigger ones, is usually not the way it goes, although of course prices have gon up darmatically. That's why I have this gorgeous place at the river now ;-)
Love the Buddha

Hi Curtis - you know, each of these images could have been a separate posting, I think they've all got something to say about the area in which you live.
Nice use of shadows & light on the house & garden images, of the four my personal favourite is definitely the Buddha!
