Photographer’s Note
Look at that shutter speed!
I took my camera for a walk since I don't have a dog. But guess what? A dog greeted me as I got out of my car in downtown San Anselmo. He was seated in the back of the car of the person he owns, waiting patiently as dogs are inclined to do. He was big enough that I hesitated approaching him, despite the fact I'm very fond of dogs. But then this fearsome looking animal retreated from the open window, its wary eyes following every movement I made. I only took one photo since I had no intention of causing the dog an further angst.
I was surprised at how well this image stabilized lens handled this hand-held shot at 1/10th of a second exposure. I increased the ISO setting and went on with my ramble. I took a number of nice photos in the early evening light, but I thought this furry friend deserved to meet the folks at TE. Be gentle!

It's a shame his nose is hidden - but for an excuse to try out your lens it's not half bad :)

I started writing a comment yesterday, because he's got such a funny, but sad look, but could not finish it. One immediately feels sorry for such a dog when he's staring at you with these looks.
Although I'm very fond of dogs (you can play so nicely with them), I'm more a cat woman. One of my nicest cats, (she died a couple of years back), performed like a dog, challenging me to play, bringing back balls of paper after I threw them away and going to the door when someone rang, so I got two kinds of animals in one ;-)
I think this one misses a little bit some attractiveness, because I have the feeling that it's not completely sharp.
I think Stephen is right about the nose. But I also think there's more lacking, it looks as if the focus is not on the eyes, I'm not sure where it is then, maybe on that blue picece of the car in front of him. Or, there is a bit of a motion blur. Anyway, I'm not sure, I think it misses sharpness on the eyes.

Great capture, Curtis. The expression on the dog's face is priceless. Framing him with the 'shiny blue surround' makes him look even more shaggy! Well seen.
And a belated thanks for the 'barren distortion information' - on my last shot.
