Photographer’s Note
A second foggy morning photo, taken due north from the Cal/EPA building. You can see Globe Mills in the center.
Globe Mills, at 12th and C Streets, was built by the Phoenix Milling Company in 1914. In 1919 it was sold to the Globe Milling Company of San Francisco for $1 million. In 1940, Globe Mills was purchased by Pillsbury, who milled grain for feed and flour until 1968 when they closed the operation. For 40 years the building was vacant, until investors converted it into an apartment complex, retaining the original mill architecture as a city landmark.
