Photographer’s Note

The wildlife has been here above Drake's Bay at Port Reyes for a long time and is likely to be here for a long while yet.

Sir Francis Drake was supposed to have anchored here in 1579 in the Golden Hind. There's also a Drake's inlet on the other side of the peninsular.

I had an amazing couple of days here managing to see deer, elk, whales, sea lions, elephant seals, birds of prey, white pelicans etc.

A fascinating area with amazing sea cliffs and superb vistas.

I was lucky to see the whale and its calf as it was at the tail end of the migration season and not many were passing by.
