Point Reyes National Seashore is California's unique peninsula jutting westward more than any other land mass on the Pacific Coast, which also subjects it to frequent marine air and fog. Located up Highway 101 not far from San Francisco, but a world away for its natural phenomenon, including the Tule Elk seen in this view.
Before 1860 and the arrival of settlers, there were thousands of Elk here, but they were decimated quickly. With environmental protection they have returned.

Great Photo Ray...
The lighting is perfect!
Try going to Grizzly Island in the Suisun Marsh between Suisun and Rio Vista for the Tule Elk and Nesting sites of Heron and Egrets, also a grand location.

I didn't know the Tule elk so I'm learning, I see it's a wapiti subspecies with a lighter coat
You captured well that group grazing, a big male with antlers with many females and youngsters, a brillant picture, regards

My first idea was "This is Alaska!", but I am wrong, sorry. Amazing scene, good panoramic composition. I think you had very big distance till the animals.

Hi dear Ray
Great nature image! The best balanced framework and light color / intentional overexposure are professional strategy!
Thanks a lot for your sharing, and have a good day! Takero

Here are the animals yet in the nature, and have to not live of grains on a farm.
Nice panoramic view about this landscape and the animals.
Excellent captured, lovely composed.
Very well done, TFS.

A great shot of these beautiful animals, similar to some deer that I see here in Ireland. I really like how you have composed the scene in such a way that the animals and antlers break the horizon like this, it creates a very eye catching scene.
All the best

Awesome capture of those elks! In Point Reyes? Good pov and nice details. I was hoping to see some elks at Grand Canyon but no luck. TFS.
We've established a new record in Las Vegas, we had precipitation on 21 of the last 26 days with today maybe the last day of rain for the this year's monsoon season. Had great pictures of rainbows, lightning and flooding.
