The Point Reyes Lighthouse was completed in 1870 with a famous Fresnel lens, and on a peninsula far west into the Pacific. The Lighthouse is located on the official foggiest spot on the West coast, 294 feet above sea level, and frequented by heavy winds sometimes 75 to 100 mph. Exterior scenes from the 1980 horror flick "The Fog" were filmed here.

I really like the atmosphere, it has that spooky look to it that really is attractive and attention seeking.
and it almost looks like a painting too.
Lighthouses make for A+ subjects, nice work here

Hi Ray: Lighthouse photos get me every time, plus I've had the opportunity to visit this one. Interesting effects and I like the idea of red being the only color with everything else being shades of gray.
Greetings from Florida................Greg

J'aime beaucoup l'atmosphère qui se dégage de cette composition surtout à cause de la légère brume qui recouvre le paysage. La plongée vers le phare est superbe.

A very fine shot from what appears to be an unusual viewpoint, the sort you might get from a helicopter. The photo certainly backs up what you said about the fogs in your note. You've done very well with the light in this one, and even timed it well to capture a woman beside the building! Of course, the fog gives the whole thing a slightly mysterious feel. Well done.

as soon as I seen this I thought what a perfect place for a horror film, and glad to read in your note that it is! Could be part because I watched the Ring again over the weekend, and the lighthouse in that movie is making the connection between horror and lighthouses.
What I love about this image is the view you have. 99 times in 100 we look at lighthouses from below, they look upwards to the clouds and look overpowering in their size. How cool that you are looking down on this place like this. So rare and so cool. the fog creates a brilliant sense of mystery.
Class picture, cheers

An interesting and certainly very well composed picture. I really like the very soft and subdued colours. The background may look a bit over-processed but this contributes to the total interest.

Good point of view, capturing the red roofs of the buildings. Lighthouses have a special charm about them, maybe it's because they symbolize guidance & direction.

This is a very interesting shot Ray. Quite an interesting effect with the colors and fog. Almost like watercolor painting. I remember the "Fog" movie.
You are using a Canon camera, how is this camera ... ? I am thinking of getting a new Camera.
