Photographer’s Note

driving along freeway 134 going home after coming from a friend's place in arcadia, i saw this majestic firey sunset..the traffic was heavy (usual CA problem...:-0) that i remember our driving speed was like 5mph, i grabbed my camera and took this shot. i feel it is worth sharing here- tell me what you think!

pasadena is a city northheast of LA that hosts the annual new year parade of roses. millions of visitors congregate here for this event. as early as december 31, files of people, tourists in particular, domestic and foreign are lining the curbs of colorado boulevard to make sure they each get a full view of the event the next day, rain or shine! for me, i only witness this event once in 1990 and thereafter only depended on live TV broadcast each year...

Hello Benedict,
Nice motiv with the good colors in the sky and the car lamps in the foreground.
But this picture has two flares: a dust in the sky and it is oversharpened, looking at the lamps with their white border.

Lovely blue evening sky streaked with light gold. The silhouettes of the plam trees in quite effective.

Again a superlative capture benedict that catches the sky in all its vivid colourful splash. You have a great pov and have seen thes ection very well. It seems to be a wild fire up there. The contrasts and textues are lovely. The lights have also been well managed. Great work. regards

Hi Benedict,
Here we have a great photo shot in a situation that one could hardly believe as propitious to shooting anything interesting. :D
Actually I have imagined much sunsets while driving slowly with heavy traffic (the last time was some hours ago...), but either I have no camera at hand or it is impossible to stop to shoot anything.
I like specially those palm trees and the candle on the left and, of course, the jet smoke and the orange cloud.

I sometimes drive along the 134 and 210 freeways, and they always seem to have awesome views of sunsets - as shown here. And it captures many elements of SoCal with the beautiful sunset, palm trees, and of course bad traffic.

Hi Benedict,
What a splendid sunset to distract you from the traffic. There is an easy way to avoid those white halos.
After using USM
Select fade unsharp mask in the edit menu
The in the drop=down menu select darken.
Presto, the halos disappear.
