Photographer’s Note
This hillside about 30 minutes west of Palm Springs, California was ablaze in orange flowers. The setting was awesome against the darker background featuring snow covered Bear Mountain as a backdrop. The wind was blasting fiercly I so had difficulty getting a good shot, but felt it worth sharing none the less. Hope you enjoy it.

Wind is the bane of the wildflower photographer. On the plus side you were able to capture a wide view that shows how great this year's wildflower season is.

Great capture, Gerald. The colors are vibrant. Good composition with the wildflowers in the foreground and the frame split by the top of the hill, with the mountains in the background. Well done.

I think you managed to keep the shutter fast enough to avoid blur from the wind. The colours are stunning, and as you say contrast so well with the background. Good work.

Hi Gerald
It's so unusual to see a field of orange flowers, especially when one is used to yellow or red. They stand out so well against the dark sky. Good you of angles and it's pretty sharp despite the wind.

des couleurs bien inhabituelles.
Les oranges tranchent vraiment avec le ciel et sont très lumineux.
Agréablement cadrée.

Hi Gerald
I have heard about the California poppy explosion. You have shown it at its best. That dark sky really sets off the colour.

Excellent framing and overall color. The sky (well... you know me!) provides the perfect dark background to further enhance orange flowers and snowy peaks.
Good job, I like it a lot.

Gerald,
I can't see any sign of fierce wind here, but a strong composition with a pure feast of colors. The orange against the blue sky and the white strip of snow inbetween is extremely good!

Simple but great find, especially the presence of snow ( and lack of haze) near PS. This almost has a feeling of autumn thanks to the California poppies, maybe I would increase blue overall.
