I'm a huge golf fan, love to play golf anytime and any chance i can get.
While in Palm Desert in California, there are about as many golf courses as there are people, so i had to take advantage of it.
And you know i'm going to take my camera while out on the course as well!
Hope someone out there on TE is playing golf today.
Have a great one

annjackman (20539) 2011-03-26 10:58
Great idea that worked well. Nice sharpness of the golf ball and tee surrounded by a patch of sharp green grass. Having the rest out of focus is excellent as we can see enough to understand the background without it intruding. Very nice work.
siudzi (34131) 2011-03-26 11:08
What a shot! Really excellent concept and execution. The DOF, colors, exposure are great. Thanks for sharing.

Ciao Craig, Bravissimo!!!
Mi piace molto quest'immagine nella quale la palla da golf diventa il punto focale della scena. Il resto l'hai lasciato giustamente sfocato con una perfetta gestione della DOF, creando un'effetto meraviglioso. Complimenti, buon WE.
Un caro saluto

Le trou est encore loin....bois ou fer 2? Une jolie idée, bien réalisée avec une profondeur de champ qui laisse quand même deviner l'environnement et, évidemment, le titre qui convient!

I remember Tom & Jerry at the moment)))

Great photo and great title! Depth of field is perfectly controlled. I like the slanting light across the ball and foreground turf. An innovative image very well presented.

jaywalker (16101) 2011-03-27 13:26
Hi Craig, A really wonderful sports photo beautifully composed, the shallow DOF is out-standing, the focus on the ball is perfect, the light is very good & you could sell this for an advert to Titleist, great photo & I played golf also today, great game, kind regards Wilson.
romanaa (7966) 2011-03-27 13:52

Wow! It is a great photo!
I like how you centre our attention on the golf ball in a good close-up, perfectly illuminated by the Sun, while you offer us the possibility of seeing the green field and the palms in background, with a nice bokeh effect.
Do you know? I am learning to play in Andorra, where I practise in a Pitch*Putt when it is possible.
A magnificent work, which would be a perfect advertisement of the brand of these balls.
delpeoples (54463) 2011-03-28 2:35
Hahahaha this is gold! Well someone was! Very badly. Hey this is a great POV, you must have been lying on your tummy for this one! I can just imagine what the other golfers were thinking! A new golfing move maybe? The depth of field is exceptional and I love the rich colours. No man-blading today then? :)
Have a good one
sacimar (26199) 2011-03-28 5:58

I think that Tiger Wood would have liked this photograph which could be used as poster for a golf tournament… Especially with a such title !!! Very beautiful photograph with a very good bokeh which emphasizes the ball well. I like much the balance of the image. Very beautiful photographic eye Craig, cheer.
With all my friendships and with soon,
siolaw (38292) 2011-04-01 1:58
Nice close up on the tee and golf ball with shallow DOF isolating the subject perfectly from the blurred background. General quality is fine. Nice out of focus palm trees there!
CLODO (31606) 2011-04-01 2:47
Superb low POV and good settings to have the ball and the tee sharp on the blurred background. After your course, is it tea time?
Hansaphotos (7205) 2011-04-01 17:12
I don`t know much about golf (I`m more into football), but this is a beautiful shot that probably could have been on the cover of any golf magazine. The lighting, the focus and the blurred bg are all important ingredients to make this a special photo. I think it works well the format you chosed, but somehow I can`t help imagine how this would look like in a square format set up - just curious. Great work indeed!
Best regards, Erling
claudeD (34813) 2011-04-04 3:19

A shot which could be used as cover of a magazine on the golf. We feel your passion for the golf in this shot.
I like how the focus and the light are turned towards the main subject, undoubtedly the star of the composition.
Perfect quality and depth of field.
Very elegant shot like ths sport.

Superbe glossy advertising Craig,Golf is not my sport, but I can understand it s a whole subculture on its own with a long history...
Mari63 (4085) 2011-04-27 12:36
essenziale eppure ricca di significato.
Nitidezza perfetta in primo piano e sfocatura sullo sfondo.

Less is more..
The great DOF en composition ensures that the eyes of the viewer ( doesn't matter how they look at this picture) always ends on the golf ball.
Also the light is great, that creates the details and the nice colors... Well done.

At the moment I live in SA as spouse. My wife is working... One of the great advantage of that is that I started to play golf 2,5 years ago since we live in a Golf Estate. Normally (if thats normal ;) I play 2 times a week. I just played this morning but I will soon miss it since I am moving back to Sweden in July.
Your photo has a very pleasant mode made by the warm light coming in from the left.
ricochet (9696) 2011-08-21 2:54
I have try to play golf few years ago and i love it too! We hosted the 2018 Ryder Cup!!!
