Lake Casitas Photo

Photographer’s Note

Lake Casitas is conveniently located about 6 miles western of Ojai, Ventura county. It is nestled between the sandy beaches of the coast and mountains over the Ojai Valley. Lake Casitas has 32 miles of shoreline and 6,200 acres of rolling hills. The lake has about 2500 surface acres of water. 50% of the lake water is used for agriculture and the other 50% is used for municipal and industrial uses. The lake is also used as a recreation park. The lake hosted 1984 Olympic canoeing and rowing events.
I took this picture facing north direction on an around lake trail.

Quel admirable paysage !
Il ressemble au lac de Sainte Croix situé au sud-est de la France.
Les couleurs sont très appréciable; cependant il est nécessaire de couper d'un centimètre à la base pour éliminer un disturbing détail sur l'avant-plan.

Hi Wes,

its a nice landscape, very beautiful scene. Im no expert in shooting landscapes, I hardly ever do it. Maybe though Id tried to leave the road out of the photo. I dont know if that would be possible and still keep the good angle on the lake. Anyway, its a nice calm shot. I like the splash of yellow in that solitary flower.

A nice view on several levels starting sharp on frontplan left up to the horizont where misty mountains touching the sky, a nice diagonal eyetravelling. Very well seen Wes.

A simple landscape photo at first sight, but quite a variety of textures and colors to be discovered in fact. Nice framing with the diagonal path to lead the viewer into the frame, where the eye then gets to rest on the turquoise color of the lake. Good light and natural colors captured, well done Wes.

Hi Wes, nice shot! I really love the color of the lake. Also the path in front of us gives us some nice bendy lines. The rugged mountains complete the shot. I think this shot should have way more points!! Nicely done Wes.

Nice to watch - the lower half of the fine inage makes me feel at home ;-) but then agian am I living in a contry without mountains ;-) - nice to watch those open fields - here can't you seldom drive a mile without seeing a house or something human made - thanks Wes.

The road on the foreground with the lovely oker colour between the green vegetation and one yellow flower, the very calm lake with in the middle one small boat, I like your composition. Well seen!

Hi Wes. A strong, well composed shot. You make excellent use of the road, both for its contour through the frame and also the colour which blends so well with the greenery. I like how you have emphasized the foreground here, with those pleasing summer tones, while the lake and hills still form a pleasing backdrop. Well seen and captured.

Nice scenery. It must be nice to walk on that path here. The path give the photo a nice depth. I like the hils and the layers of the hills and the fresh blue tones of water.
