Photographer’s Note
Last sun rays caressing fantastic hills in Red Rock Canyon national monument in California north of town Mojave, center of the desert region of the same name. Late afternoon, a magic time in American desert South West. Fantastic shapes like from tales and transcendent worlds everywhere around you. Looking around I suddenly find it - all desert ghosts' headquarters. A magic castle, countless towers, terraces, fortresses... Just a few moments and the light disappears. The hill sunken in dark resembles all others. Was it a mirage? No, no - that were headquarters.
200mm lens with teleconverter 2x. Aperture priority, manually point metered toward the lightened hill. Scanned with Nikon CoolScan IV-ED. Contrast enhanced (Curves); unsharp mask 58%, radius 2; JPG level 50.
