Photographer’s Note
I was walking along the waterfront in Mill Valley, camera in hand, when I heard a small plane overhead. I glanced up and quickly shot this photo, capturing one of the palms trees planted near the public walkway with my wide angle lens. The airplane was familiar to me, since it sits near highway 101 as it passes Sausalito, floating at the edge of San Francisco Bay. I'd been meaning to visit the airplane, whose bright yellow cowl makes it most attractive. I'll post a workshop showing the plane at its dock. I finally stopped by after this photo turned out so well.
The airplane is owned by San Francisco Seaplane Tours and is available for rental for those who wish an aerial view of the Bay Area. You might wish to check them out the next time you visit the neighborhood.
Hope you enjoy the photo.

Good evening Curtis, seeing such an airplane, makes me want to go and leave, if possible to far away beaches. I have never been in an airplane like that, but I would really like to try, I think it must be very spectacular to 'land' on water.
Hmmm, delightful pic, just because it really awakes that longing for a holiday, and leisure time and relax a bit.
Attractive, peaceful sky as well. Thanks for the feeling.

It's a weird composition, so deceptevely simple, and I really like it. It caught my eye in the gallery. There is a wonderful feeling of freedom in this picture. But also, strangely, a feeling of constraint. The plane is free but you (we) are stuck on the ground, only looking up in envy.
It makes me think of a song, full of both hope and sadness (I'm not a religious person but I like this song, also apparently simple):
Some glad morning when this life is o'er,
I'll fly away;
To a home on God's celestial shore,
I'll fly away.
I'll fly away, Oh Glory
I'll fly away; (in the morning)
When I die, Hallelujah, by and by,
I'll fly away.
When the shadows of this life have gone,
I'll fly away;
Like a bird from prison bars has flown,
I'll fly away
I'll fly away, Oh Glory
I'll fly away; (in the morning)
When I die, Hallelujah, by and by,
I'll fly away.
