The Sandhill Crane (Grus canadensis) is a species of large crane of North America and extreme northeastern Siberia. The common name of this bird references habitat like that at the Platte River, on the edge of Nebraska's Sandhills on the American Plains. This is the most important stopover area for the nominotypical subspecies, the Lesser Sandhill Crane (Grus canadensis canadensis), with up to 450,000 of these birds migrating through annually. Fine action view of the majestic Sandhill Cranes in flight and a large number. Good resolution and natural coloring.
These guys are impressive to see in person, and can be elusive. I note you listed the area as Merced, and perhaps near a water source?
Have a rewarding weekend,

an excellent capture of the flying birds, a scene that's very delightful and interesting. I like very much how sharp and warmly coloured by the light the cranes are, shadows and dark details create a fine graphical impression. The smooth and bright blue sky sets off each of the cranes and the whole of the scene superbly. I love the different angles created by the flapping of their wings. Congratulations and thank you!
All the best, have a great weekend,

Autumn is a migrating seaspon for many birds, and you very well spotted the cranes and taken a beautiful pic. of.
Two formations on close range and one on the far side of the sky.
Pleasent to look at, crossing the bright blue sky.
