Photographer's Note

An early dusting of snow in October in the Eastern Sierra Nevada at Convict Lake. Mount Morrison in the background elevates to 3,739 meters above sea level, and its summit is composed of Dolomite and Marble - basically metamorphosed limestone from the Pre-cambrian period.
The steepness and dangereously loose rocks and severe winters earn Morrison the nickname "Eiger of the Sierra".

Très jolie photo automnale sous une atmosphère de brume. L'effet d'éclairage est spécial et les couleurs sont merveilleuses avec de splendides reflets. Beau contraste avec la montagne.

Boom! This is a kick-a*se photo, but you don't need me to tell you that! Love the vertical frame and that golden sheen on the water from the equally stunning golden trees huddling in the valley on the shore. The rugged peaks, the mist and gold everywhere...can't ask for much from nature, or from a photo really. Great shot. Congrats.

hello Ray,
your photo is simply beautiful. I like the choice of tight frame in here which makes the eye focus more on the subject. Great light management resulted in some splendid reflections on the water and contrast between golden and darker parts of the photo.

So is this where Frodo vacations when he is not busy powerful rings back to Mordor? There is an awesome sense of power in this, the mountains themselves seem to be alive, and quite threatening, so matching your note perfectly as a place that could be dangerous. The beautiful yellow trees and their cool reflection add a brilliant element of colour, and the catch of those snowclouds is superb!

What an incredible shot! I love how the atmosphere changes as the eye travels along the vertical - from the misty, rugged, majestic and severe slopes to the picturesque trees and calm waters at the bottom. So well seen - TFS!

We see few snow but wonderful yellow colors in the valley.
Also nice reflection in foreground.

Hi Ray,
It is wonderful shot of Mount Morrison in Sierra Nevada. The photo has two season: lower part is still in an autumn with fantastic colors and upper parts of mountain got an early snow. The water has beautiful gold reflection from trees above. Good quality photo, well done!

Hi Ray,
This is a beautiful image of California mountain landscape, with nice golden fall colors in the lower portion and formidable peaks with snowy signs of starting winter in the upper portion - a winning combination in contrast! I like that you composed the image vertically to emphasize the height of the mountains with the fog shrouding their tops!
