Yeah, sure! One of the most recognized and photographed places in the world. Everybody on this site know in a split second where I am! Or..?
I did my very best to get as close to the sign as possible, going up Beachwood Drive from Franklin Avenue, to get that one-of-a-kind photo. The higher I got, the harder it was on winding streets. I ended up in cul-de-sacs more than once, turning around and making other turns. I had left my map, only driving after the sign now, occasionally spotting it between trees and houses, behind secluded gardens and over high stone walls.
Finally I reached my goal, behind the last house, there it was. I knew I couldn't get closer. I took my picture, turned around and headed for... Ooops! Where am I...? Did I turn here? No, I've never been here before. Wait! No!
So if everybody know where I am, I sure was the one on drift!!
And the photo wasn't that special...

I suppose you can't leave L.A. without getting a shot of the Hollywood sign. I like your story. It really adds to the photo. Gives the good sense of a hunt that you finally accomplished. You captured your prey. I like how this is framed, too, with the trees and lamp post and roof. Nice colors, too. And sharp. Nicely photographed view of "The" sign.

I don't see anything wrong with this shot, Kaj. It's crisply detailed with great colors, and you made the best of the surroundings to come up with a pleasant framing, using the antenna on the right and the roof and lamp at the bottom left. Great note of the hunt for this shot - I'll remember your story for the day I'll get a chance to go there - which I definitely want to (I have this thing about going to iconic American sites, as you know ;-)
Plus, this makes a fine addition into my "Americana" theme, thanks!

Nice composition and interesting story, beautiful view from there, beautiful sky and frame. I've been to L.A. once but never got that close from the sign, good shot.

I really like you picture of the Hollwood sign. The colors are clear and crisp and living in la, i know that it isn't always easy to get the clarity. I also like how you framed it in with the lamp post. I looking forward to viewing your other pictures from the place I call home now. I see the hollywood clearly from the roof of my apartment building.
