NASA operates two Lockheed ER-2 (civilian version of U-2 spy plane) Earth resources aircraft as flying laboratories in the Airborne Science Program under the Agency's Science Mission Directorate. The aircraft, based at NASA's Science and Aircraft Integration Facility in Palmdale, CA, collect information about Earth resources, celestial observations, atmospheric chemistry and dynamics, and oceanic processes. The aircraft also are used for electronic sensor research and development, satellite calibration, and satellite data validation. (Official Web Site)

this plane is a part of our history too. Similar spy plane U-2 with Gary Powers pilot was stopped by rockets over Ural region of USSR in 1960.

This type airplane see we not here in Belgium.
I reads the text of our friend Serghei, I remember perfct the accident between USA and Russia with one of this type planes.
