Bluer than Blue Photo

Photographer’s Note

In earlier times, some people believed that the firmament was an enormous blue sapphire in which the Earth was embedded. Could there be a more apt image to describe the beauty of an immaculate sapphire?

Lake Tahoe is one that comes to mind when you discover it. Sapphire blue in color and rimmed with white-capped mountains, this lake is simply captivating. Mark Twain was one of the first to note its beauty: Tahoe is "the fairest picture the whole earth affords" he said. Its name comes from a Washoe Indian word meaning "Lake in the Sky".

What gorgeous colours of the water!!!Really, never seen such blue colours of water.This is very innovative and interesting angle.The silhoutte of lonely branch works well here.

La couleur de ce lac est tout simplement incroyable. L'eau a de tels reflets que même le gris de l'arbre tourne au bleuté.
Bonne idée de composition que cet arbre perdu au milieu de l'eau...

hello vincent

very minimalistic but very effective. what better foreground object than this sun whitened tree to show how blue the water is in lake tahoe. excellent POV too. just, for my tast, i guess, i would have cropped off slightly from the top, letting the tree fill in the frame almost to the edge.
