Photographer’s Note
Laguna and Palm
Laguna Beach Sunset ..
I hope you will all forgive another shot from my old beater digicam ... this is the second image I have posted from a wonderful evening last year at Laguna Beach, California. .. here is the first
Not only is it cold and wintery here .. but more importantly (for me anyway) .. my wife (she is a violinist) .. for the last many months has taken a job that has her in Los Angeles a few days a week (a mere 1500 mile commute) .. long day of being Dad today .. she will be back tomorrow .. but for the rest of the evening I need a little California dream.

hi john,
nice shot,
the composition is good,
the sky has lovely colour tones,
the sunlight walling on the sea is creating nice effect on water,
a tighter crop at the bottom may look better,
tfs & regards

Hello John,
Fabulous shot, the sun setting behind the sharp image of a palm tree, while the lower part is entirely sublimated by the shadow. It could in principle be cropped a little tighter on the lower part of the frame, but it works anyway. I enjoyed immensely the personal note.
Regards from Virginia, at the other end of the landscape.

Hi John, when seeing this picture, I feel like I am freezed by the ice photos you have had on TE before. This is a pleasant one in terms of the sunset light, and the water. And the palm adds more interesting element here. Vertical shot makes a lot of sense here. Great shot. Sothy

I love the soft colours of the sunset. I wish there was a tad more of the palm tree though but the tree and flowers give a nice backwards L frame shape to the shot. Pretty!

Lighting and subdued colors are nice. Well done getting the details in the foreground even though there isn't much light there. I like the purpleish reflection and sky color alot.

Hi John,
Maybe not as impressive as your other one, but also wonderful, with a very nice atmosphere and pov.
It's funny how I began by not finding it much interesting at first look but then I liked it more and more while I kept looking. I don't know why, as objectively I don't see anything really special on it, but what counts it's that I find it very pleasant. I don't mean it is mediocre technically or compo wise, well at contrary.
All this to say that I think you did a wonderful job shooting it.
And I am glad you post something reminding me of Summer (I know it was shot April, but that sun...), as we had the coldest days of this Winter here. Nothing like waht you are used to, but 5 degrees at noon in Lisbon is quite rare, almost as rare as snowing, which actually happened a bit, for the second time in 60 years, the other time being last year.
TFS, Regards, José.

Hi John,
Beautiful tropical sunset on this plam lined beach. Very soft light purple ocean color. This composition is light at the end of the tunnel.

hi john,
today i went to five beach cities to kill the sunday boredom- san pedro, palos verdes, hermosa, manhattan and marina del rey. it was a bit gloomy today, but me and my friend managed.
your foto clearly endorses the golden state of CA and i need not say more- it tells us all!

Hi John,
The light and framing is excellent here. I'm riding through LA on a train right now on the way to my folk's house to give their caregiver her days off. It's actually pretty cold here just now, says the San Diego Weather wimp who whines is the temperature drops below 65 or over 75!! But it's definitely below my range!! HLJ, Pat

Hi John,
I have the impression not to have come for a long time in your gallery: you posted so many photographs since!!!
This photo holds my attention more particularly because it meens hot countries... The light, framing, I want to be under this palm tree...

Geraldine
