Photographer’s Note

I have been looking back at some of my images taken earlier this year and as you may sense, I love Joshua Tree National Park in California, so here's another shot from Barker Dam, a "must see" location. The day was bright, the temperatures moderate, and the tourists few, so a perfect time to visit this amazing place. Enjoy.

Hi Gerald,
the view of this rocks formation is simply amazing but what really makes the difference here are the reflections on the water, perfect as a mirror. The overall quality is outstanding with great details throughout, great exposure and the use of the polarizer to enhance the deep blue of the sky. Great shot, I like it a lot.

Hi Gerald,
Amazing, water in Joshua Tree N.P, i was not aware there was that much water. See you took it in Feb, that must be the reason that it's being there?
I was there in Sep...freaking hot with temp above 100, a search for water was no option i think that time. i like this, it brings something new from this park in a way i have never seen it...very nice.

Vividly contrast colors that are perfectly clear and crisp. The deep sky works wonders with the golden brown rock that making such a striking reflection in the brimy still waters. Lovely wispy clouds and gulls are also interesting elements to this outstanding image.

Hello Gerald,

Excellent mirror image with these mountains as subject, also in America see I the white airplane lines, here in Belgium is sometimes the sun almost disappear through this lines.
Very nice composition with real colours and excellent presentation.

This looks like a great place Gerald. I love reflection, big rock formations and trees coming out of water. You have all tree here... If Joshua Tree NP was closer I would run to it today or tomorrow. I like your shot. It has deep colors and the sharpness is perfect. It's a bit busy to my taste though. And I also would like to see those trees not overlapping the background rocks. There is almost no contrast between them and they get almost unnoticed. But I guess you would to try a completely different view in order to avoid it... It wouldn't be the same picture, would it? :) It's a great one.

Amazing indeed, Gerald. Those rock formations and its marvellous reflection on the perfectly still water surface, make a striking image. Love the fact that there's pratically only two colors and they make such a good contrast. Great shot.

I was browsing the photos from this location, and just couldn't continue without stopping here, even if it is an older post. love the intense sky and crazy rock formations, it looks like the stones have been carelessly thrown in a pile to clear the space for the reflection :) and the sky is just perfect, couldn't wish for better. great shot, I like it a lot.
