Photographer’s Note
This shot was taken near the resort we called home during a vacation in Indio, California in late February. I guess I was struck by the bright colors and the stunning contrasts of spring in California. The area around Palm Springs is strikingly beautiful in a largely man-made way, but one must wonder about the copious amounts of water that it takes to keep things growing and green when fresh water is no longer available is absolute unlimited supply.

Hello Gerald!
Beautiful colours! The contrast between it is great! Is it a golf fairway that green grass? The natural frame of that tree and the yellow plants is a good choice!

Hello Gerald,
This is a nice landscape with an interesting succession of hills to high mountains. I also wonder what the outcome will be when the glaciers in the mountains melt completely and the water supply stop. Good clarity with natural colours. Thanks Gerald.

Hello Gerald,
A great landscape composition nicely framed by the foreground. A pleasing range of tonal contrasts under a very good light. Excellent clarity.

It is not what we expect to see in a desert thanks to the water supply mentioned in your note. There are striking contrasts between the meadow and trees in the foreground, the scrub in the mid ground and the more barren rocks of the snow-capped mountains in the background. So many environments in one image! I like the way you composed it with the tree leaning right into the frame. Well done

G'day Gerald,
A long way from your usual shooting locations! Great colours and composition - I guess the lush green grass is a golf fairway?
Best wishes,
Jeff

Gerald,
it seems that it is about the right moment to everyone get out these shots of spring in the desert. Welcome joining jwmunro, wandering-dan and me. We all opted in showing the natural beauty while you are showing us the contrast of the human "waste" of water on the desert to create an artificial impression. Good composition and colors to show the contrast between the luxious "artificial" flora against the arid of the sand and mountains in the background.

Hi Gerald
Wonderful array of colours here. I like the way you have created a window with the tree and shrubery. I know what you mean about the water. This is why the Mono Lake Committee have fought so long and hard to stop the assault on Mono Lake and the diversion of fresh water to L.A.

Excellent shot Gerald, the sky formation is bland, you manage it well using the tree as the FG and gives a well balance composition. I noticed a little smoothness in this shot which added a pleasant mood in the scene.

Hi Gerald,
Striking contrast between the golden foreground, lush green grass and the very dry barren hillside. I think some day the bubble will brust and their will be serious water shortages in the western US. The colors here are brilliant with excellent sharpness and details.

Great shot, Gerald!
Very carefully built, with all those different layers stretching all the way to those wonderful mountains in the distance.
Striking light, awesome colors, definitely my favorite can of beer!
Cheers,
Fulvio.

Hi Gerald,
Deep colours, high contrast and saturation, that's the way i like to see it.
The overhanging tree makes it like a natural border and gives extra depth to the image. I never saw Indio like this, and it seems i surely missed something.
Strong work in color and composition, very good.

Excellent dimanche,
