Photographer’s Note

Nature provided a gorgeous early sunrise like this every day near the resort during our one week stay at Indio, California recently, but I only saw two of them! Most mornings had no clouds to create special effects but the one I share today did. I suspect most people pay little attention to this sort of beauty, or are too busy to notice, but I often rise early just to check if a special sunrise is about to be displayed. I liked the effect of the row of palm trees cutting across the frame. Enjoy and have a great Easter weekend.

An uncharacteristic reflection for Indio. Is this a golf resort? It's a beauty, Gerald. Seems like you have cropped the top, which is probably a good idea. Wonderful colors and stillness. Regards,

Wow, this is really beautiful! The sky is just gorgeous, with those clouds lit up perfectly by the rising sun, actually looking like brush strokes on a painter's canvas. The line of trees along the horizon is a great touch too, made even more interesting by the repetition of the shapes. Excellent work!

A very beautiful composition, with nice reflection, and a perfect pattern. Just some concern on the orange line in the frame. I think a white one would have been better. But this is something really unrelevant, of course.

Hi Gerald,
Funny, i was passing Indio (staying there for the night 2 years ago) without knowing it could deliver such a beautiful picture. Your composition is flawless, really strong work here in presentation, expsoure and light. In the blue there are some tiny artifacts, probably caused by compression, not really your fault, it's the 200kb barrier.
I really like this, reflection and exposure is spot on...great work.

What a gorgeous sunrise. I love how the coral-coloured clouds are floating in the blue sky. The strip of land with the palms and their reflections add a graphic look to the image. Certainly worth getting up early.

Hi Gerald,

Persistency paid off and rewarded you with this absolutely gorgeous sunrise. Delicate clouds appear just to add a touch of contrasty pink over this deep blue gradient sky.

I appreciate the low horizon, the perfect timing to get the orange glow (it doesn't stay this way very long...) and the graphic approach with the aligned trees.

Hi Gerald,
I feel tempted to just repeat the funny, but well chosen name of jmdias theme: "triple wow". No need to praise the compoor the colours, or anything else. I like how you stay away from symmetry in a subject with which many of us would use and abuse symmetry.
The only very minor flaw: the noise on the sky. Maybe it doesn't show in many displays. I have noticed that this display I am using now is very 'picky' on those details (read: "not very good").
