A snowy egret is stationing himself at a large drain pipe in an effort to grab something good to eat.
From Wiki: Bolsa Chica Ecological Reserve is a nature reserve in the city of Huntington Beach, California. It is designated by the California Department of Fish and Game to protect a coastal wetland, with its resident threatened and endangered species.

They don't appreciate this bird portrait, sharp on the eye and with the amazing feathers on the head. Moreover, the beak is in the diagonal of the image, giving some dynamic feeling.

Hello, this is a marvelous close up of the snowy egret. You really managed to capture the birds face and look with wonderful side lighting that brings out her feathers all the more. Excellent composition and color. Perfect exposure.
Actually California has many bird sanctuaries. I live adjacent to a wildlife bird sanctuary and have seen many birds when I go for my morning walks.
