All day and into the evening African Moon sailed at ~2 1/2 knots under OTTO, our windvane steering system. She was gently heeled at 10 degrees, moving with an easy motion on a flat bay, with only the wind dimpling the water.
Lunch came and went, the wine was sipped and she was a happy ship.
We moved toward our destination and were lifted toward the Patapsco River and our marina in Rock Creek. The western sky became crimson as we sailed on a gentle NE wind.
Day became night - we sailed through that magic time called twilight. The water and air were quiet, a chill slowly moved into the autumn air - it was magic.
Into the night we sailed - a tack here, a tack there, always moving toward home but hoping it would never end. We tacked to sail away from the Craighill Channel to avoid a ship and a barge as we sailed into the Patapsco River and eventually past the White Rocks in Rock Creek.
For us it was beautiful - a never ending memory of the joy of sharing the cockpit of a "little ship" making her passage home after nine wonderful days on the Chesapeake and experiencing her many secrets and magic.

hey Joseph! i'm not sure if the light blue stuff in the water is just distortion or really sharp light reflections... i usually don't like that effect but you've managed to make it look really good here cos it contrasts so well with the deep blues. you've also chosen a really interesting crop that works nicely with the placement of the two boats.

Wonderfull deep blue. Reminds me of my favourite photographer - Philip Plisson. He has such a strong photos with great atmosphere. Your photo looks like that. Very well done. L.

Such a simple image, yet so strong. The position of the sailboat is perfect and I love the "blueness" of the scene. I might have cropped just a bit more of the sky out, but just a minor point. Great note, too. Well done!

You have an interesting texture here - warm and cold - and full of sparkling water. Nice one

Very good job, Joseph! I like colors and "sea effect".

Another good one! You can sell lot's of touristic packages with this shot! :-)
The 'horizontal crop' make one beautiful efect of 'infinite ocean' that I like a lot. The ocean almost mixing with the sky (actually is the same color, just no reflections is the sky) is a very beutiful efect too. :-)
Thanks for sharing!

C'est une très belle photo. Le format est bien choisi. Il y a peu de chose mais c'est bien composé et agréable à voir. Les bleus font beaucoup pour la beauté de l'ensemble.

The colour bleu is very lovely.
And the composing of the boot is good.
