The weather on the californian coast is quite intriguing with sudden mist covering the beaches on a perfectly sunny day.
On our way back from Canada to Europe we had a night stop in San Francisco. Rather then spending the night in a charming airport hotel, we decided to rent a car and drive for the night and the half day before going to the airport, down at half moon bay, just some 30 miles south of San Francisco. Walking early morning on the beautiful sunny beach of Miramar, the fog crept in very suddenly and cast everything in an eerie light.

Sea and fog are two friends, I am born close to the sea and know excellent what is fog, certainly early in the morning.
Depth and perspective be superb.
Excellent composition, lovely presentation.
Very well done, TFS.
Have a nice Sunday,

I like the atmosphere rendered by your picture.
The perspective is interesting with a background emerging from mist the ingratiating character on the right.
As your picture is very clear and with pale colors, a black frame could improve the contrast with the background of the TE page.

Daniel, I saw the new additions of mountains and I thank you for posting them because your pictures of mountains are fabulous, but today I had to stop at Half Moon Bay because is close to where I live and is very favorite spot to me..great place to visit under any weather conditions and any time of the day, is still one of the most beautiful beaches in South Cali..
beautiful shot and thanks!!!
all the best
I just saw that I'm running out of smilies but I'm sending you this comment anyway...

This is a very atmospheric shot along the beach. I would never have guessed this was from California . Nice composition with great depth.

So moody scene here taken with a really great sense of the moment! Simple but very eye-catching composition. Well done, TFS!

I sometimes find footprints rather distracting in beach scenes, but on this occasion you have used them to good effect helping to add real atmosphere to a well exposed shot.
Very nicely done.
Kind regards Les.

Simply lovely! The footprints in the sand lead towards that beautiful mist. An atmospheric shot - very well done.
Kind Regards, Ann

That mist is quite unusual, how it appears in the distance, but not in the foreground, and the fact that the footprints look like animal prints make think this could be a scene from a horror film! Great effect.
All the best

Great atmospheric conditions make for a totally unusual beach shot. I like your choice of portrait format to emphasize the footprints in the foreground.

This is another one of those photos that one ought to admire in silence. Excellent!

A fantastic capture here, Daniel -- it perfectly evokes the feel of Half Moon Bay!
ALWAYS avoid the "charming airport hotels!" ;-)
