Photographer’s Note
.
On our way back to Los Angeles from San Francisco, just after switching from the scenic route 152 to I-5, we saw a rainbow all the way at the horizon within Fresno County.
My friend Phuoc Phan sped up toward it, telling me he has been waiting for a chance to photograph one since the first days he got a camera in hands. Because he is more young and more skilled, he successfully catch his entire rainbow while I was only able to record its broken right foot at the last seconds before disappearance.
With this attempt, I knew I am outdated.
For the failure, I am shy to admit my lack of skill. Let me find something to blame instead: “Oh, my poor age!”

I like the photo. MY only concern is that ground and bushed looks a bit artifitial (or, sky looks too great :)

Greetings Thanh. Even ooold aaage has its moments. With your tardiness you ended up giving your photo an element of mystery, probably lacking had you caught the whole works. Lovely colours throughout.Keep running after your rainbows.

I wouldn't call this broken because it is not solid nor liquid. It's vapor.
May be you don't agree but I like to call this explosion over a battlefield. Don't you think this could be a form of distortion of your earlier-days job?

Nice to see the both versions. This is the ultra zoom version and the other the ultra wide version. Both are good. Thanks! Gilbert
PS you picture has more points than his 9 vs 8. (:

Never mind! your rainbow is nice too!! You have to say that your age brought you experience and you was waiting to shoot only the broken rainbow!! joking aside, nice colors contrast and sharpness and good compo..

Terrific image. An unusual pov with great lighting and good definition. Colour-wise, the clod-covered earth is just as interesting as the rainbow, although I think a bit more saturation would help. Phuoc might have got the whole rainbow in his stitch, but I think your photo is the more interesting, really.
Good notes, Thanh.
Regards, Andrew

Phuoc was successful to capture the whole rainbow from A to Z but you gave us the real close-up "portrait" of it.
Thanks,

I don't have enough skill to talk about photographic technique, but the title "Broken..". Do you know by itself it already said a lot of meaning? More than the completed one. Good work.
