Photographer’s Note
Wonder Valley, California
Scene
As I mentioned in my previous post my wife and I were visiting this beautiful valley on the recommendation of Peter Boehringer. This is a typical California ranch style barn. Most barns of this style were built in the 19th and early 20th centuries.
Background
Not much to say here other than this photogenic barn was across the road from the previous post. Everywhere you looked there was something that was shouting “take a picture of me.” This one shouted the loudest after the wildflowers.

Hello John,
You've composed this beautiful rural scene very well.
The sharpness is excellent. I specially like the shapes of those branches, still without leaves, and standing out against the bright sky.
Best regards, Paul

Such a nice compsotion with great great depth. The successive layers with the fence, the tree on the left, then the barn create the depth so well. Colors are very pleasant, very natural. A great work.

Nice detail John, looks like a peaceful place, somewhere I would like to be for sure. Color is also very fine and the budding trees makes for a really tight composition.

Hi John,
Lovely rustic country scene of this rugged old weather beaten barn.
Shot in effective light that brings out some nice shadows and rich textures to the old fence.
The soft blue sky makes a very nice backdrop to this fine country scene.

Hi John,
Great framing; I especially like the balance between the tree shadow and the Oak tree in the FG. The colors are soft and natural. There's nothing quite like California's 15 minutes of green for stellar photos.

Hello John,
This is an interesting scene with many fine details!
I notice the particular kind of fence, that I haven't seen since my childhood over here...
Good point of view and a balanced composition, and the naked branches make a fine framing of the old barn!
Greetings,

Hi John,
You must be very busy or lack of inspiration in making and bringing new material to our eyes. And although i like this old barn with the old woodwork and the fences, i would love to see some new stunning work from your hand because you live there in a great area where spring must show nature at his best. When i had enough time i would come over for a two weeks and we could do some shooting together...
Take care,
Henk

John,
I see that you're starting to unfold your true photographic skills in your new surroundings. Hehehe, Wonder Valley made it into your gallery. Isn't a great place? Why not doing something together on some day.
Give me a ring and let's do it.

Wonderful portrait of the barn and its hand-hewn fencing amidst the overhanding oaks. Appealing composition and perfect rendition of the color of this place. Brings back memories of wandering these backroads. Thanks, Judy

Hi John,
An old barnes in this kind of setting is definately photogenic. I have been looking out for such place everytime I drove through rural area, so far I have not been very successful yet. This is quiet lovely, and charming in the rustic and down home kind of way. Good shot, good composition, nice light, beuatiful and antural colors. Thanks.

this is one of my very favorite photo subjects and this is just brilliant. PERFECT light and contrast, mad good color and clarity, outstanding composition with the rail fence leading in to the barn in just the right spot. Sharpness and detail are just superb. Man, that's a great shot. Many thanks and congratulations on such a fine job. Nice to see a D300 in good hands. :)) I keep dreaming...
