Photographer’s Note

Fall Creek flows under the giant redwoods in Henry Cowell Park. A century ago this flowing water was harnessed in a sawmill to make redwood barrels used to ship lime to San Francisco as a building material. Today it is a cool clear brook beside a beautiful hiking trail where a photographer can take a break, mesmerized by the patterns and colours.

There's no fish, no turtle, and definitely no bird :-) in this picture. But there are lots of different coloured stones, well rounded by erosion. The ripples are from a gentle breeze on the water. I chose a section of creek with indirect lighting where the combination of wind and current created this honeycomb ripple effect, which I really liked.

This is a crop from a larger photo, but more to fit the posting size limits than anything else. This kind of image passes 200K easily...
