Photographer’s Note

Meadow Club is a private golf course constructed adjacent to the watershed for Marin Municipal Water District in 1927. What makes the golf course noteworthy is the fact it was designed by one of the foremost golf architects in the world, Dr. Alister Mackenzie. Dr. Mackenzie designed Augusta National Golf Course where the Master's Tournament is held each year. He designed ten courses deemed to be among the top 100 courses in the world. Here is a link to description of his accomplishments.

Alister Mackenzie: One of Golf's Great Architects

What is most remarkable about this stunning course, is that it was carved out of essentially arrid hills and flat land of the sort depicted in my last two photos of the watershed. But gorgeous fairways and exquisite greens flourish next to straw grass. At the very top and bottom of this image you get a flavor for the surrounding countryside.

The course, is suitably elegant, enough so to justify greens fees from $85 to $125 per round, depending on the time of week. Here is a link to the description of the course created for prospective golfers.

And this ends my brief visit to the watershed.
