Photographer’s Note
Fort Humboldt is located in Eureka, Ca. U S Grant was posted here in the mid 1850's. In the 1850's Eureka, Ca was a very isolated place without much to do. Grant did go back to the bottle while posted at Fort Humboldt. It can get quite bucolic out here.
