Photographer’s Note
What mother can resist her daughter when she pleads for ice cream? Unlike the vast majority of the patrons leaving the Ikea store in Emeryville, this woman walked away with only what you see in her hand and the ice cream cone her daughter is eagerly devouring as they pass beneath me in the crosswalk leading to the parking structure.
I was standing at the top level of the structure, fortunately sheltered from the heavy mist falling as I took photos of the comings and goings beneath me. It was one of the few places I could imagine taking photos outdoors today. Over TWO inches of rain fell today and the forecast is for five more days of winter precipitation. So, my creativity will surely be tested if I'm to take photos over the next week. Wish me well.

I can see here what you meant when you said you were exploring and seeking a more honest expression in your photography. And I must say I am very impressed with the change you have brought about in your last few posts. Here, the PoV looking down is probably the strongest feature of the shot. Add to that the cracked white lines on the black rain soaked roads and the mother and daughter duo placed interestingly in the frame. The result is mostly dynamically presented in this B&W capture.
I really enjoyed your photo from the library as well. Keep up the good work Curtis!

What an awesome angle. The markings painted on the ground are just great. and the little girls barrette on the dark hair almost repeats the pattern set by the asphalt markings. A wonderful idea and executed very well.
With this rain I think we may want to invest on ark building materials. I went from Palo Alto to San Francisco twice today I think my car will soon grow fins. Although I will freely admit I love the rain.

Great photo, the image youve presented here tells a story and I could think of a number of scenarios taking place here.
Youve used your surroundings well, congrats.

Some very fine inventive work you're coming up with this week Curtis. Another clever shot that's worked out well. I wonder how long you had to wait to get the walkers suitably positioned.

A special one. Strong geometry combined with ice cream, not usual at all. Both humans in strong points too and I like that one of them is a bit out of the frame, this focuses the attention on the girl. B6W a good choice here.
But you don´t know if she signed for two leather couches to be delivered ;o)

Sorry, I saw it yesterday and wanted to come back to it.. You style has really changed in the past few months.. This is a perfect exemple of what I am saying.
I really love this composition.. This is very nice, your perspective is good. It's abstract, but at the same time I see the little girl eating her ice cream.. The type of images I really love;. and those lines .. great Curtis...
