Today is the 70th anniversary of D-Day invasion on June 6, 1944. This Douglas C-53D Sky trooper (C-47 Skytrain) N45366 / 42-68830 / M2-R (cn 11757) 'D-Day Doll' was delivered to the USAAF in 1943 as 42-68830 and flew three missions during the D-Day invasion.

Still in good flying condition, actually went out of service just two decades ago.
Once flew this type, and on it's door there was a sign: "Substitute for a Dakota - only with another Dakota".

Oh, yeah! I see this is the same plane. The three white stripes remind me ADIDAS style. Good idea to make this photo in sepia, it looks like a document photo. Good capture of the flying Sky Trooper.
