Coming from Montreal Canada I am really used to white scenes like this one the only difference was I was shooting this wearing shorts instead of a winter jacket and this was salt and water not snow and ice. No clouds were present to create a dramatic sunset so I spotted this great extruding salt formation and used a very low view point to create a more dramatic image and have these salt lines lead our eyes all the way to the distant mountains.

Great photo Pat!
The colours are great, both in the sky and the reflection! Your composition indeed is a good substitute for the cloudless sky, and adds good depth of field,

great picture, and colors, as usual !
I've seen your web site: timecatcher... beautiful pictures.
About this photo, you shot at f/22. Why such a value ? Didn't you have any ND Filter with you ? And why a 8 sec time pause ?

C'est encore très joli Pat,
Toujours ces paysages sans l'ombre d'une vie, cette désolation rend ceux-cis si mystérieux, comme si ils se trouvaient sur une autre planète.
Moment et jouréne bien choisis pour une telle photo.
