this is a southwestern view of Anacapa Island. Anacapa or Anypakh as the Native American Chumash Indians named it, is comprised of three small islets, West, Middle and East island. Only the East allows visitors in small numbers and is accessible only by boat. The islands are volcanic and are situated off the coast near Ventura, California. They are now part of the National Park System. Almost 5 miles long, East Anacapa is about 2 square miles and has a small loop trail, a visitor center and a lighthouse. Oh and a small campground as well.
This photo was taken during a low tide time so many rocks along the coast are exposed. This side of the island is where the sea lions congregate and live. The islands are a host of 150 unique species of plant and animal life and so the islands have been dubbed "The Galapagos of the North". It was a glorious day to be out on the islands.
Thanks for looking and enjoy my photo...

Fine sharp resolution view of the Anacapa shore including miniature islands jutting into the Pacific. I hope to rent a kayak on my next visit and meander around the unique islands. And you experienced good sunlight which is a bonus since fog is frequent.
Thanks for sharing,

I've never heard of this part of California, it really is lovely and untouched. The vertical frame has been chosen well, emphasising the steepness of the cliff and length of the coastline. Beautiful light and contrast. Thanks for sharing.
Have a very good weekend

Wow, I always wanted to go to Channel Island. This look as beautiful as I would have expected. The vertical format work very well for it provides greater depth of the landscape. The cliff reminded me of part of the central coast, like Big Sur Area with the rocky shoreline. Excellent quality shot here and congrat on the publication on the Newsletter.
