Diving pelican, a photo from California, West

We were stunned and surprised how elegant and graceful the pelican is in flght. Along the Big Sur,California, these birds look grumpy and stumpy on shore but in flight.. georgious. We suddenly saw also their spectacular dives to get their daily colories in and took me only 2 attempts to get this shot.

Mark, really outstanding timing and capture here. I've never seen a still of a pelican in this pose or this close to the water - so close you can see its reflection as well. The dark, grainy quality adds a nice mood to the almost B&W shot.
